On 1-2 October, the Science and Technology Platform is organising the conference "Together for future STEM talent" aimed at schools, companies and governments who are interested in future-proof technical education and broad talent in secondary education.

The conference addresses the importance of EU connectedness and collaboration for the future of STEM talent in The Netherlands and Europe.

Let yourself be inspired by provoking speakers, successful examples and experiences of schools, government and businesses that the prices on the future of the beta technical secondary education.

The conference

The world is changing with new technological developments. This creates new jobs with more technical applications will emerge. These technological innovations call for more science and technology talent, including for example, the care and administration. We need a different course to respond to the changing future. Regional cooperation between education, government and business this is more important than ever.

STEM initiatives are numerous. And not without reason – these days economic prosperity is closely linked with educational achievement in the STEM fields, but simultaneously the amount of young people qualified for STEM jobs does not meet the labour market’s demand for STEM talents at all. We have a skills gap to bridge.

The last few years the exchange of knowledge on STEM education between EU member states took a flight, which was stimulated through programs as InGenious and Scientix. Nowadays there is a growing desire to take this exchange of experiences and good practices to the next level. Time is right to facilitate an exchange of global educational best practices for The Netherlands and its fellow EU member states and to explore the possibility for a EU STEM Coalition.

To put a start to the road towards a STEM Coalition and to raise awareness about the importance of joint efforts in closing the STEM skills gap Platform Bèta Techniek (the Dutch STEM Platform) is organizing a conference on the 1st and 2nd of October 2015. The first day is nationally oriented and will be focusing on what is going on in the Dutch education field and how we can make the best of existing successes in order to create a valuable future for STEM talent.
